We’re getting some of our favourite bloggers to give us a sneak peek into their lives. First up – Natasha from Girl In The Lens. She tells us what it takes to create an award winning fashion blog!
“Weekends are always Callum and I’s busiest time for blogging, so after treating ourselves to a little lie in it’s up and away! I usually wear something quick and comfy for morning chores, which include checking emails and sorting out any posts that have to go live that day. The glamorous life of a fashion blogger!”
“But of course you can’t work on an empty stomach, so once we’re sorted out a few bits and bobs we often head into town for our favourite breakfast – the Carluccio’s Magnifica! There’s no better thing to set you up for a long day. It’s a great time for Callum and I to catch up too, as we’re so busy during the week we often don’t have time together until the weekend.”
“While Callum gets his kit together ready for shooting – his camera, laptop etc – I usually sneak in some time to work on my writing. Outside of blogging, being an author is my main job, and just like blogging, it’s a job that’s constantly on the go! I try and keep writing to the weekdays, but there’s always something else to do – blog for my author site, answer emails, jot down ideas for a new story.”
“Now it’s time to get down to shooting. We get sent lots of things throughout the week, so I’ll have to organise what needs to be photographed and sort out my outfit. Because of Callum’s long working hours during the week, we have to do a few outfits each weekend, so often I’m recreating something I wore earlier that week. Most of our photographs are taken in St Albans, but we’re moving to London soon and can’t wait for more exciting places to shoot! We’re so quick at taking photos now it usually only takes us ten minutes or so per outfit, though sometimes we have more fun with it and spend a little longer snapping away.”
“Once the shoots are done, it’s time to get them edited! This is Callum’s realm – he’s a real whizz with Photoshop. I don’t know what I’d do without him! We upload all the photos onto his laptop and pick our favourites, and then he gets editing whilst I lounge around playing games on my mobile. No, not really. Ok, maybe really…”
“Once the photos are done, we’ll spend the rest of the day chilling and doing usual weekend things – going to the cinema, walking around town, meeting friends. Sometimes we’ll head into London for a blog event, though luckily these are mostly held on weekdays. It’s nice to have some down time and spend a little time as a couple outside of working on the blog together!”
