While many of you were basking in the July sun, the fashion world was showcasing the top trends for Autumn/Winter and here at Next that meant staging our Christmas fashion show. This year’s event, attended by top press and bloggers, was a huge success and showcased the go-to trends for the season ahead.
Now is most definitely the time to invest in a new season coat. Though it’s not necessarily cool enough to wear, it’s good to get ahead of the game so that come the winter, you’re not left with a smaller selection. We suggest having a look at our practical yet very stylish seasonal offerings. This year’s mix of cuts and styles would get a nod of approval from any fashion heavyweight! Our favourite? This wonderfully ladylike red fit & flare coat. It’s juuuust gorgeous.
Fit and Flare Coat, £85
When Alicia Silverstone strutted onto our screens in 1995 as Cher Horowitz, sporting pussy bow blouses, patent leather shoes and check dresses, a fashionista was born. We’ve been waiting ever since for a return to the preppy Beverly Hills look Cher and her clique rocked. Luckily for us, 90’s grown up grunge is back on the fashion radar. And luckily for you our Christmas collections are a plethora of pleated tartan skirts! …we’re already lusting after the red check kilt. Teamed with an oversized knit or crisp white shirt and jumper, you can stay stylish whilst keeping toasty.
Red Check Kilt, £28
Who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle come Christmas? Our winter extravaganza showcased a number of beautifully embellished jumpers and chiffon shirts, with a tasteful bit of bling on collars and cuffs. To work this trend all season through, jewels are teamed with pastel shades in lavender, lilac and pink. By limiting embellishment and restricting sparkles, these pieces can be worn again and again, adding a little luxury to your wardrobe. We’ll be teaming our jewelled jumper with jeans for lazy afternoons, but toughening up the look with a leather pencil skirt and heels for the evening. Remember a little bit of sparkle goes a long way, by investing in a couple of beautiful pieces you’ll stop yourself looking like a disco ball.
