The Next Sale is a force to be reckoned with; as much because of the incredible bargains to be bagged, as the people who help make it special. Ahead of this summer’s main event (starting Saturday 16th!) we’re breaking down some of the characters you can expect to find with baskets brimming. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or completely uninitiated, let us know which sale shopper you consider yourself to be…
Despite the best of intentions, a few among us are somewhat prone to making a mess. We couldn’t say we love you for it on the day, but you are an unquestionably essential part of proceedings – and the Next Sale wouldn’t be the same without your tangled hanger sculptures!
Where most of us see the bolstering of our wardrobes at bargain prices as prize enough, there are those who anticipate each summer sale as opportunity to step into the wonderful world of research, lists, logistics, timings, task delegation and analysis. The early bird catches the worm, but the one with a spreadsheet gets one that fits better.
Your unrivalled focus and eyes-on-the-prize-attitude will score you personal sale success, but could risk jeopardising relationships with any nearest and dearest you’ve brought with you! If you’re looking to avoid clashes with alpha-shoppers, just wait till they’re fully laden with their choice of cut price clothing. Once they’ve reached a point when they’re too weighed down – they won’t have the energy to make known their difference of opinion.
Getting up early is tough. Getting up early on a Saturday to get in a queue is tougher, even in mid-July. If you’re wincing at the thought of a pre-birdsong alarm call maybe this a role you can really make your own (from about 8am!). The online sale shopper won’t ever know the thrill of the chase or atmosphere of camaraderie and competition, but will be able to shop with a cup of char…
Even if it’s not you or a sale day ally, spare a thought for the shoppers who’ve traversed mountain passes, crossed valleys and waded through rivers to reach Sale. We can’t all live near the centre of town or a retail park, but twice a year we will make that special pilgrimage to the bright lights of a Next when everything is half price or even less! Someone who’ll get there at any cost can be identified by their rugged, weather beaten appearance, defiant expressions and baskets full of outerwear.
A slower approach may mean fewer bargains bagged, but taking time to consider your purchases means you’re likely to achieve smarter styling and outfits with longevity…(something that legions of frenetic sale shoppers gloss over with their smash and grab antics). It’s possible to grab a great quantity of quality clothing for less in the Next Sale, but for some, it’s also possible to find exactly what they came for with a little more thought and some outside the box ingenuity. Power to you, selective shoppers.
