The nation is split into three very distinct camps when it comes to celebrating the most ‘romantic day of the year’… You might be of the opinion that it’s great, you buy a card as soon as they hit the shops middle of Jan and book somewhere in advance to ensure you’re wining and dining in peak rose-petalled conditions. Perhaps you’re mostly nonplussed by the whole thing, possibly buying your other half a card the night before and very nonchalantly hoping to maaaybe receive flowers but if you don’t – worse things have happened. Or, you absolutely hate anything pink, red and fluffy all year round and couldn’t think of anything worse than a candlelit meal for two surrounded by a load of other cliché couples (you even go so far as refusing a mate’s suggestion of a cheeky Nandos that happens to fall on the 14th).
So, seeing as it’s impossible to please everyone – we’ve decided to try and cater to those somewhere in the middle. Instead of shamelessly firing Cupid’s arrow in your general direction, we’ve selected some of the non-essential but nice things that might boost your Valentine’s experience – whether it’s a treat for yourself (from your “secret” admirer), something for your home to make it that bit more special or a selfless gift to a loved one.
