We had the chance to catch up with Rachel and she shared some of her blogging and style tips with us.  Read on for more…

When did you start blogging and why did you start?

I started blogging in June 2011 and I’ve been totally addicted ever since. I started after becoming a mummy to my adorable son. After I had him I noticed myself making little to zero effort. Previous to him I was a huge clothes fan and wore whatever I wanted and loved shopping. After having him, my body changed A LOT, I also didn’t have the time to put in to myself like I used to, but then I felt miserable as I felt like I’d completely lost my identity and sunk down in to baggy jeans and hoodies everyday… and that was just not me. So I started making an effort and feeling better in myself.

I started to learn how to dress for my new shape and creating my own style which made me super happy. My sister was already a blogger and she suggested I write one too. After reading through hundreds of inspiring fashion and mummy blogs I decided to give it a go. And the rest, I guess, is history!

Do you have a favourite place where you write or find inspiration?

Well I write usually at my dining room table when my son goes to bed, it’s the place I focus most. And as for inspiration it mostly comes from reading other blogs, I love blog hopping and finding new reads, and following peoples journeys. Blogging builds such great communities, as you get to find like minded people.
I also love looking through catalogues, I know that may be old fashioned as everything is online now, but when the new season catalogues get delivered to my door I get so excited. I sit down with a cup of tea when it’s baby nap time and enjoy flicking through the pages and getting inspiration for the following season.

Who do you think your style muse is and why?

Oh my goodness, this is a toughie. There are some amazing bloggers out there and every time I see an outfit I like I store it in my head for future reference. As for a celeb, I would have to say Zooey Deschannel. Her style is quirky and pretty which I love. Really anyone styling a mixture of high street and vintage is an inspiration to me.

Have you always been a fan of Next?

From an age where I was able to start buying I’ve loved Next. You can pretty much guarantee at least one member of my family will be wearing a Next item on any given day. I especially remember it about 6 years ago I started regularly shopping there. When I was younger I thought Next was mostly for smart suits and great office wear. Then about 6 years ago I noticed some great styles and really modern designs. From that point I became a regular and it became one of my first stops on my shopping outings, usually resulting in leaving with a bag (or two).

What do you think makes a great blog post; do you have any favourite online tools such as Twitter?

I think a great blog, for me, consists of personable content. I like to see/read what other people are up to. I like reality, sometimes on blogs people portray the perfect life, which can be a little depressing for the rest of us!  I like to read real people with real lives. I’m also a big fan of great photos, something which I’m working on for my blog and always striving to improve.
As for tools, I’m on twitter @Rachelturone but I’m so forgetful I keep going days without tweeting… I must improve that! However I love reading everyone else’s tweets and often read through hours of tweets.

Can you give us any tips on how other bloggers could get their blog noticed?

Well I’m far from a pro, but I’d say comment lots on other people blogs, people will often comment back and you can build great blogging friendships. Also Networks like Next are great platforms for “meeting” like minded bloggers and for people to see your blog also.

Finally, what’s in store for Yummy Mummy’s Galore in 2012?

Lots hopefully, I have a whole new page design going live shortly and possibly a couple more changes to make the whole blog just that bit better. I have a few monthly features planned and obviously lots more outfit posts… I’m so excited!! Thank you so much Next!
