Aside from weekends, we don’t often get to enjoy the luxury of a pre-night out pamper sesh. Whether it’s repetitive snoozing of your alarm on a weekday, smashing a 7 minute showered-dressed-and-go personal best in the gym changing rooms, or a very public (and therefore rushed) make up routine on the train to work, getting ready in a hurry is an inevitable fate for most of us. So, in an effort to help you (and us, TBH) master the art of getting ready fast – we asked the office for their TOP time-saving hacks.

One thing that’s absolutely unanimous is dry shampoo. How did we ever live without it?! (Blink once if you’ve ever employed the ‘talc technique’). It’s probably not surprising that, when pressed for time, face takes precedence over hair. Sometimes, there just isn’t time to wash, dry and do whatever else we’d like to do to our untamed barnets, and when the solution comes in the form of a can, who can argue? If we can leave the house looking alive but with sub-par hair, it’s not the end of the world – even if our mops suggest we’ve fallen victim to a zombie apocalypse. As long as it’s not greasy – and smells sort of like artificial flowers – that’s fine by us.

While we’re on the subject of hair, for all the gym bunnies out there – it’s time to reinvent the high pony. Yes it’s borderline Mel C but executed properly, it can become a slick, no nonsense style. If, halfway through your morning spin class, you remember there’s an 8.30 breakfast meeting in the diary, you can kiss goodbye to your leisurely shower. Instead, make dry shampoo your BFF and artfully blow dry it into your hair to create oodles of volume (honestly, you’ll wonder why you’ve never done this before). Then, create a neat, high pony and congratulate yourself on not being a total failure. Or, if you have managed a successful wash and blow dry but can’t quite fit in a curling sesh – twizzle your hair around into two buns, fasten them in and by the time you’ve put your face on, you’ll be left with tousled locks.

Another hack to help get you ready fast is tinting your lashes and brows. Make up emphasises the features, so minimise your daily steps and opt for a tint that lasts a few weeks? This is especially effective for brow queens, as crafting the perfect face framers is an art that takes time. With tinted brows, all you need is some clear mascara, a few upward motions and you are hot to trot.

It may seem obvious, but having an advance handle on what you’re wearing is infinitely beneficial. Whether it’s as simple as hanging out your clothes the night before, or earmarking your work-to-wine top swap and heels. Even if you change your mind at the last minute, your forethought will stand you in greater stead for looking and feeling fab.

Despite wanting the rest of the world to think we’re pruned to perfection, there’s a very popular (and simple) style hack to avoid the laborious task of leg shaving – wear trousers. Yes, we know it sounds obvious but trousers are fast becoming the look du-jour for smarter occasions. Some carefully considered trousers can make an outfit, especially if they’re tailored to perfection. So you can worry less about your legs and focus more on pulling together an enviable ensemble.
