As we would expect for Spring/Summer’13, bright whites were in plentiful supply! For many of our favourite designers, structure was the aim of the game with modern, clean lines – often with a sporty edge. The great thing about white is that it’s effortless, lending itself to everyday wear. It is also a look we can easily achieve with High Street items. But what inspiration can we take from the catwalk?

Well, Richard Nicoll built his collection around daywear. ‘Hoorah!’ We hear you cry. Yep, his offerings were distinctly casual with elements of playful athleticism – items virtually squealed with utilitarian delight! We love the simplicity of this collection and will be on the look-out for cute cut-out and mesh detailing in High Street items next season.

For Simone Rocha, SS13 was all about harvesting the youthful, rebelious schoolgirl that we saw in her AW12 collection. This season saw her take on a more polished, ladylike persona. She added warmth through the use of crochet and cotton broderie anglaise. This latest collection is really wearable. We don’t know about you but that crochet skirt is on our hit-list next season!

And finally we couldn’t talk about Bright Whites without mentioning Alexander Wang’s standout collection across the pond at New York Fashion Week. Wang’s collection was anchored around American sportswear design, but with an abundance of right-angles. We LOVE how the strappy shoes mirror the cut-out slices in the dress. Swoon!
