London Fashion Week Trend Report: Metallics
Following on from yesterday’s Trend Report on Prints… today, we’re marvelling over Metallics.
We’ve already seen rumblings of the trend this season but for Spring/Summer’13 – metallics step up a gear. Whether it be fuscia pink, gunmetal grey or mint green – there’s a shade to suit every woman (and man, too!…*coughs*)
Amongst our favourites on the London Fashion Week catwalk, was Burberry Prorsum. We loved how their staple Trench Coats were elaborately transformed into a sweet-wrapper-style spectrum. Though, if the idea of an entirely metallic ensemble horrifies you and you think you’d rather start off slowly – why not add a flash of metal to your day-to-day accessories… a bag, statement jewellery, or shoes?
We were also bowled over by Jonathan Saunder’s dual-personality offering which included outfits that were completely different front to back, somewhat of a split personality…with sci-fi accents.
Zoe Jordan was also partial to some metallic marvel but took a playful, feminine approach with a spoonful of highschool varsity added in for good measure.
And finally, the beautifully crafted collection from Osman. His emphasis was on colour and shape, while at the same time giving a nod to the joyfulness of summer through embroidered oriental flowers, daisies and heart motifs. He flirts with metallics and ensures they are offset with his dark, rope-tie details and accessories.
