#NextGuestBlogger – Emily Knightley!
I’m Emily and I was lucky enough to win Next’s recent competition to find a guest blogger for their blog, so I’ll be posting here over the next month or two. I usually blog at Sugar and Spice about all things fashion and beauty that catch my eye …which is a lot of things! I won the competition with a post about the top five trends for AW12, so to continue that theme, my first guest-post is all about how to style this season’s tweed bouclé jackets.
Tweed bouclé jackets are synonymous with Chanel and without one, a collection by the French fashion house would be incomplete. For Autumn/Winter’12, Chanel wasn’t the only fashion house to send tweed jackets down their runway, indeed Stella McCartney and Lanvin also showed tweed jackets at Paris Fashion Week:
Every season the high street creates Chanel-inspired jackets at prices that many of us can better afford. Of course, we can all still dream of the real thing. But thankfully, Next have produced a wonderful on-trend tweed jacket for AW12.
The real genius of the bouclé jacket is its versatility. Day or night, office or casual attire, the bouclé jacket looks good whatever the occasion. So I will show you how I would style Next’s bouclé jacket for the office and for the weekend:
For the office, the bouclé jacket deserves a little extra attention to be paid to the rest of the outfit, without detracting from the jacket itself. I would therefore choose a simple pencil skirt, like this lace insert skirt, and team it with a ladylike blouse. This stud detail blouse is plain enough for the office but the studded collar means that it’s anything but boring. I would finish the look with a pair of plain heels.
For the weekend, the bouclé jacket can take centre stage while the rest of the outfit remains casual. For a weekend spent brunching and shopping with friends, I would team this jacket with black skinny jeans and a laidback but feminine shirt, like this print shirt. I would finish the look with a pair of ballet flats. The added bonus of this outfit is that with a simple change of shoes, like some bigger glitter heels, you’d be ready for a night out.
How would you style Next’s tweed bouclé jacket?
