It’s always interesting to see everyone’s take on the new season, ESPECIALLY when the trend interpretation comes in the form of Claudia from the blog – Pink Manolos. Taking into account the HOTTEST catwalk trends, Claudia has given us the lowdown on what to buy for the dip in temperature… check it out below:
“The ultimate guide to your new Autumn wardrobe is here. From urban military to floral chic, a sartorial resurrection of top trends will update your wardrobe. Thanks to Phoebe Philo, functionality has become fashionable – this Autumn’s trends are easily transferrable from catwalk to closet for a stylish season that will see you through to Christmas and beyond.
Autumn florals are your go-to for a fresh everyday wardrobe with which to start the season. Flowers will brighten up gloomy autumn days and are ideal for girly afternoons with friends. Don’t be afraid to work them into your workwear for 9-to-5 chic. Our monochrome floral pussybow blouse is ideal and the ultimate high-fashion steal. You can view our full floral collection here.
As autumn approaches and the air starts to cool, the season’s overcoats will ensure you stay stylish when you wrap up warm. Layer a powdery fur snood over our chic and cosy waterfall coat (comes in pastel pink, too), or wear your fur as a headband – the choice is yours. Blanket capes are your new staple coats and the trend of A/W 2014; seen at Chloé, Ralph Lauren and Hermès, the trend was perfected by this one in particular – take your cue from Burberry and wrap up in a loose and oversized blanket cape – slung over the shoulders, our grey checked fleece cape is a favourite.
Fluffy textures are taking over this season as supersized knits in soft yarns were seen and loved on the catwalks at Vionnet, Calvin Klein and Helmut Lang. Sheepskin and fuzzy furs in cool colours, pastels and metallics are a game-changer, with Prada in the lead. Channel Emilio de la Morena in our blush fluffy cardigan – get it a couple sizes larger for an effortless autumn allure.
Enter the new season fearlessly in scarlet reds and deep berry for a powerful fashion statement that will turn heads. The Autumn/Winter 2014 collections were bursting with flaming reds; from Versace to Rag & Bone and to Dolce and Gabbana’s reinterpretation of the Little Red Riding Hood, it is the colour of the season. Make do like Preen and go head-to-toe in our red tailored suit or break it up by combining it with grey, as done at Akris. If you’re not feeling so brave, our bright red longline blazer alone will do the trick. Wear it as a coat, layered over fur for extra warmth.
This season’s spin on military is one of our favourite trends. It was reimagined everywhere, from Acne’s mustard overcoat to Alexander Wang’s multi-pocket utility coat and belt shoulder bags. Pick our utility shirt in ochre and finish it off with more earth hues and neutrals for a palette of dégradé shades that will mimic the leaf-carpeted parks of Autumn. Mix and match chunky knits, sharp tailoring and slick leather for an interesting juxtaposition of shapes and textures to add an edge to your look. Alternatively, keep it sleek and feminine with our soft faux leather flare skirt and a pair of chunky-heeled ankle boots for a chic outfit that is so Céline.
Accessories are key this season; gloves in brightly coloured leather add a touch of femininity to your outfits while opulent clusters of jewels add an edge to embellishment. Prefer them on your neck – this statement necklace is perfection for day or night – or on your feet with these sparkly suede flats in navy and burgundy that will instantly lift your looks and add a bit of glamour to casualwear.
The perfect finishing touch to your Autumn wardrobe is the brown bag; whether it’s in dark beige, milk chocolate or chestnut, woven, patent or soft leather, it’s a must-have. Boxy shapes in small to medium were seen at Christopher Kane, Balenciaga and Louis Vuitton, while larger, softer bags were clutched at the hip with effortless cool at Chloé and Céline. Get the look for just a fraction of the price with our leather zip shopper in tan.”
