Being a working mum means I’m allowed to have 2 wardrobes right? One for the school run and one for the office… Well yes that’s what I always thought, until fairly recently. I’m not entirely sure if my school run attire has smartened up or my office wear has relaxed but more and more often I seem to be mixing things up.
Don’t get me wrong I’d never slum it to the office in my dirty denims, and likewise my asymmetric points never see the rush of the school run but I definitely seem to have blended my two ‘wardrobes’. Take my floral print tapered trousers for starters – with flats and a vest they’re perfect for ‘being mum’. But if you team them with a cross strap wedge and fitted jacket, you’ve suddenly achieved office-chic! Another must-have is the oversized casual shirt, I wear mine with jeans – either dressed down with a Summer espadrille or dressed up with metallic pointed sling-backs. I literally can’t live without them!
Along with transforming relaxed into smart, how about turning smart into kiddie-friendly, buggy-pushing, chilling out-wear?! (I refuse to use the word ‘comfortable’ – who wants to look comfortable?!) – it’s easier than you think… try this woven t-shirt paired with boyfriend jeans and pumps or the navy tapered trouser worn with some converse. Very yummy mummy!
So whether I’m at work with my professional head on or wiping noses at the school gates, I can safely say I’m choosing my outfit from just one wardrobe – easy as that!
