Hoorah, the weather is warming up! I think the majority of the UK population had grown beyond bored of the cold snap… it really has been Baltic! Brrrr! It’s not that I want a tropical summer to arrive with a mere snap of the fingers, no, I am a simple kind of girl, just to feel my extremities’ whilst I walk 5 minutes down the road would be a pleasant start!! That, and to be given the chance to start to wear a hint of a spring-time wardrobe without having to cover it up with a winter coat!
Easter was chilly beyond belief wasn’t it! And typical too as we had all kinds of excitement planned once the school term was done and dusted. An Easter Egg hunt party (complete with snow?!), a trip to the Isle of Wight and the small thing of Daddy being off work for 2 weeks to enjoy (and encourage) all the fun!
There we were, the start of April on board a very coooold ferry Isle of Wight bound – now let me assure you, when we booked this trip it was very much snowing outside and the mercury was well below 0, so as I clicked ‘BOOK NOW’ I was (clearly, very optimistically) dreaming of a spring sun in the sky, a pleasant chill to the air and long days on the beach, albeit wrapped up. I was NOT thinking that the week before our departure I would be frantically ringing up our holiday company to check that every room of our accommodation would be heated and that the hot water bottles would be the first thing packed!!
Thankfully our accommodation was fully equipped and the hot water bottles weren’t actually needed, the kids kept plenty warm with an array of winter warmers – Fin’s Next Navy Jog Suit was a God send, keeping him warm and comfy and Imi lived in her Tan Quilted Pull-on Boots – they have a fur lining so perfect for the cold climes! And even I was able to stay toasty but look chic in my Embellished Peplum Sweater. Despite the conditions we all had a thoroughly good time and we even had a day on the beach. I say WE in the royal sense – I (along with the other females) congregated in the beach front cafe and cheered on the cricket match whilst enjoying a cream tea!!
Now I am back home I allow my mind to wander to the 3 weddings I have this year. All 3 nuptials are no kids allowed (and although, of course, I adore my little ones) I am quite unashamedly looking forward to enjoying a few child-free days and nights watching our good friends and family tie the knot. But what to wear – and can I kid myself that the thermostat will be slightly more favourable? Well, the first wedding is late May so I’m going for the Lace Maxi Dress – I’m praying for the sun but if it comes to it I’ll have to put my long johns underneath!! – I will NOT be beaten!!
