Christmas is the *perfect* time to unleash your inner interior designer – not only are there decorations to impress your guests with, there’s festive dining to consider too! You might only use your dining room a few times a year, for big family dos or the odd celebratory dinner but at Christmas – all meal times get an upgrade. If you’re looking for some inspiration, watch our video for two distinctly different but swoon-worthy themes…
One of the major things to think about when planning your festive table, is how many people will be sat around it. If you’re playing host this year, have a look at our extendable dining tables to avoid elbow-clash mid meal, and steer clear of mix and match crockery by investing in a dinner set for the adequate number. Once you know the scale to which you’re working, pick a colour that best represents your overall Christmas décor. Are you a fan of the classic crimbo theme? Opt for lavish reds and golds. If sleek and modern is the aim of the game, icy white and metallic should be top of your list.
Once colour scheme is decided, prepare the base layer of your festive table – think table cloth, runner and place mats. It’s up to you how layered or minimal you want to go. Make sure you leave enough room for a centrepiece – this is key for bringing your look together. Foliage will score you maximum cosy vibes – something pre-lit is the simplest option but if you have lots of space, a wreath with a candle in the centre is a lovely traditional idea. For the minimalists, a sleek ornament will add interest without too much fuss – plus it’s perfect for a smaller table where space is at a premium. The final touch is to add your crackers! It goes without saying these should also be in keeping with your festive feels.
